At a recent “Women Talk Business” event at the Westport Library before Mother’s Day, I shared my story of starting my Macaroni Kid and encouraged attendees to “take stock of your dreams.”
I spoke along with Marcelle Sorviero of Wilton, and the editor-in-chief of the national print publication Brain, Child: The Magazine for Thinking Mothers, who offered women a means for manifesting their dreams and goals by journaling.

Over the last year, we have seen dramatic changes in my son. Physically, he is much taller and is often in danger of wearing "high water" pants due to his sudden growth spurts. The Norwalk Seaport Association (NSA), which owns and stewards the Sheffield Island Lighthouse and Park, will officially open its season with a Commissioning Day event, a centuries old seafaring tradition. The festivities will take at the NSA’s ferry dock with a blessing of the NSA’s ferry. The rain date is May 19th. The event promises to be fun for the whole family with food, pirates, music by local artists, Tim Currie’s Motown Review, walk-on tours of the ferry, and giveaways.

The tour itself will feature five gardens, three in Westport and two in Wilton. The locations of the gardens are not announced until the morning of the event, On Veterans Green, enjoy some two dozen vendors will be set up from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. selling plants, garden tools and accessories, jewelry, lavender-scented pillows, beach blankets and apparel, olive oils, antiques and more. The Garden Tour and Marketplace will be followed by a Toast the Tour party at Gilbertie’s Herb Gardens in Westport.

Saturday, June 8 through Saturday, June 8 - BooZoo, Canine Carnival at Stepping Stones
Stepping Stones Museum for Children will host a day-long festival celebrating the powerful and important bonds between humans and their animal friends. The third annual BooZoo Canine Carnival will take place on museum grounds. The Canine Carnival is hosted by BooZoo, the museum’s fictional puppy mascot for early childhood learning and literacy, and will feature carnival games for families and dogs, face painting, crafts, a meet-and-greet with BooZoo, a Mutt-i-grees® class, a dog wash and more. All canine friends, accompanied by owners, are welcome.
